BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2025 — Work for America (WFA), the nonprofit organization solving the nationwide public sector staffing crisis by helping governments better recruit, hire and inspire the next generation of public servants, today launched a new national digital video series spotlighting the everyday heroes who keep our communities running, and the organization’s modern hiring solutions helping governments rebuild a stronger, more resilient public workforce.
The premiere episode of Work for America’s Studio Stories series, filmed in Nashville, centers on Sabrina Sussman, a transportation leader and recent placement through Work for America’s Civic Match, WFA’s public service career hub that connects displaced federal employees to meaningful state and local government roles nationwide. To date, Civic Match has connected over 250 state and local governments with more than 12,000 looking for mission-driven, community-strengthening work.
The documentary short dives into the ongoing challenges of Nashville’s mobility and transportation systems, featuring interviews with Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell and other members of city leadership, and provides a clear look at how Sabrina’s placement in the city is helping to keep Nashville’s streets safer, neighborhoods connected, and residents moving. It also introduces WFA to new audiences as a bold, non-partisan organization redefining what it means to be a public servant.
Sabrina’s story offers a clear, human look at what becomes possible when civic workers are supported, valued, and matched to roles that align with their skills, purpose, and commitment to community. The Nashville episode is the first chapter in an ongoing storytelling effort that will feature the heroic stories of public servants nationwide – uplifting local impact, amplifying real voices, and showing how modernizing government hiring strengthens communities across the country.
“The story of public service in America doesn’t often get the heroic treatment it deserves,” said Terron Moore, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Work for America. “Everyone from our 911 operators, to our city clerks, to our school and health workers, commit to work that helps us grow, changes our lives, and keeps us safe. We’re excited as an organization, not only to be working with cities across the country to bring unique innovations to how governments hire talent, but to tell stories that uplift and inspire those called to keep our communities thriving each and every day.”
