KEVIN AVIANCE & SEVNDEEP RELEASE NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO: "THAT PART"

Groundbreaking visual celebrates Black queer joy, intimacy, bodily autonomy, and modern sexual health

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2026 — Nightlife icon and Billboard chart-topping dance music pioneer Kevin Aviance and rising Black queer artist SEVNDEEP today released their new single and music video, "THAT PART," a bold new collaboration celebrating Black queer pleasure, freedom, intimacy, and self-determination. Inspired by house music, ballroom culture, and contemporary queer nightlife, the release arrives as both a dancefloor anthem and a cultural statement.

Aviance — whose influence on ballroom and dance music was introduced to a new generation through Beyoncé's sampling of "Cunty" on Renaissance — joins forces with SEVNDEEP in a collaboration that bridges generations of Black queer culture.

More than a club record, "THAT PART" centers a vision of Black queer life rarely depicted in mainstream music: one rooted in joy, confidence, connection, and liberation.

The accompanying music video intentionally pushes that conversation forward.

Among scenes of friends preparing for a night out, gathering in community, and embracing the freedom of queer nightlife, viewers see club-goers taking PrEP — the HIV prevention medication that has transformed sexual health outcomes for millions of people. The inclusion is deliberate, positioning HIV prevention as a routine act of self-care and responsibility rather than a source of stigma or shame.

The release also arrives ahead of the 20th anniversary (June 10) of the violent hate crime assault that nearly ended Aviance's life and career. "THAT PART" stands as a powerful act of reclamation — reclaiming joy from fear, pleasure from stigma, visibility from violence, and the simple right for Black queer people to exist freely, openly, and unapologetically in their bodies.

At a time when access to HIV prevention, sexual health education, bodily autonomy, and LGBTQ visibility remain active cultural and political flashpoints, "THAT PART" offers a different narrative: one where pleasure and responsibility coexist, and where Black queer people are empowered to define their own stories.

Just as notable, the video's storyline rejects many of the familiar tropes often associated with queer narratives. There is no antagonist, no rejection, and no tragedy at its center. Instead, the visual celebrates friendship, attraction, confidence, movement, and self-expression.

At its core, the video's love story is a love story for self.

The collaboration also serves as a rare intergenerational moment in Black queer culture. Aviance, whose influence helped shape ballroom, nightlife, and dance music for decades, joins forces with SEVNDEEP, a new generation artist whose work unapologetically centers queer visibility and sexual freedom. Together, the pair create a record that honors the culture's past while celebrating its future.

"THAT PART" is available now on all streaming platforms alongside the official music video.
